Ethernity Networks Eases Video Broadcasting over Wireless https://ethernitynet.com/press/ethernity-networks-eases-video-broadcasting-over-wireless/ Thu, 13 Oct 2022 13:29:35 +0000 https://ethernitynet.com/?post_type=press&p=38030

Ethernity Networks Eases Video Broadcasting over Wireless

Airport City, Israel – October 13, 2022 Ethernity Networks (AIM: ENET.L)(OTCQB: ENETF), a leading supplier of networking-processing semiconductor technology ported on FPGA (field programmable gate array) for virtualized networking appliances, announces that it will be hosting a live demo of its patented link bonding, showcasing the technology’s ability to address, among other things, the video-streaming market by enabling multi-channel transmission over multiple connections, while maintaining the video stream despite wireless link performance degradation.

Ethernity’s link bonding uses load-balancing to enable the transmission of a single dataflow along multiple 10Gbps and 1Gbps wireless links. That is especially valuable when broadcasting heavy media such as video, which is prone to packet-loss and therefore degradation of quality-of-service when transmitted over a dedicated wireless link. As opposed to link aggregation (LAG), which specifies that a certain data flow must run over a specific port/link, Ethernity’s bonding technology can automatically adjust to actual link rates as it load-balances the entire data rate over multiple connections, thereby maintaining high quality-of-experience.

The company’s forthcoming UEP2025 network appliance is purposefully designed to host and enable Ethernity’s link bonding technology over a combination of wired or wireless links to any vendor’s radio units. This means that the UEP2025 supports various throughputs, latencies and other critical behavioral differences between the competing radio technologies in the marketplace.  It therefore serves as an ideal disaggregated, all-in-one, wireless backhaul Indoor Unit (IDU), offering improved transmission of data-hungry applications across multiple channels.

Ethernity is running the live demo of its link bonding technology at NetworkX in Amsterdam (Booth B57) from October 18-20 and will also be presenting the company’s XGS-PON/GPON OLT
MAC, its FTTR offering, and its ACE-NIC implementing Router-On-a-NIC to facilitate vRouter offload.

David Levi, CEO, Ethernity Networks said: “Video is yet another application for which our link bonding technology not only improves quality-of-service, but also enables a truly disaggregated Radio Access Network. While other vendors offer L1 bonding features, they lock the service providers into using proprietary radios. Ethernity’s patented link bonding, on the other hand, is agnostic to the radio technology, thereby offering operators more flexibility as they plan their network infrastructure.

Ethernity Networks Lands $4.6M Follow-On Contract for Fiber-to-the-Room Devices https://ethernitynet.com/press/follow-on-contract-fttr/ Tue, 20 Sep 2022 06:01:16 +0000 https://ethernitynet.com/?post_type=press&p=38004

Airport City, Israel – Ethernity Networks (AIM: ENET.L)(OTCQB: ENETF), a leading supplier of networking processing semiconductor technology ported on FPGA (field programmable gate array) for virtualized networking appliances, announced today that it has signed a new $4.6 million follow-on contract with its existing customer, a Chinese broadband network OEM.

Under the contract, Ethernity will supply system-on-chip (SoC) devices with support for Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) Optical Line Termination (OLT), adapted to enable Fiber-to-the-Room (FTTR) deployments. The Ethernity solution offers GPON OLT over an extremely low-cost FPGA to serve residential and small-office Customer Premises Equipment for FTTR deployments.

Fiber-to-the-Room is a disruptive trend that uses passive optical fiber to reach residential, retail, and enterprise deployments. Passive fiber-optic deployments provide greater reliability and performance than Wi-Fi and a greener and more power-efficient solution than traditional copper cabling. By bringing fiber into the individual rooms of an apartment or small office, end-users can benefit from higher throughput with an unmatched level of service to enable today’s most data-hungry applications without experiencing lags.

This is the second major contract with this customer, following an original $3M GPON/XGS-PON OLT SoC order in October 2021. Given the success of that initial project, the customer proposed a follow-on project to address the larger FTTR market, targeting residential deployments and expanding Ethernity’s reach into a new mass-volume market.

This is the largest single FPGA volume-based contract that Ethernity has entered into to-date. With the device being a major enabler within a next-generation home gateway and considering the significant estimated volumes indicated by the customer beyond the committed volume per the contract, this may justify porting the design integrated on the FPGA to an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) to allow long-term competitive pricing.

David Levi, CEO, Ethernity Networks said: “This deal confirms our prior expectations that Ethernity’s contract wins would lead to follow-on business. We are extremely pleased with the advances we have made on a deployable PON product with this OEM customer, and we are excited to begin work on this extended offering for the new FTTR market. This is a totally untapped market for Ethernity that utilizes our existing 5G infrastructure technology to serve a major connected residential market. I believe this is the tip of the iceberg in this growing market for Ethernity with further potential to generate significant additional revenue flows.”

Ethernity Networks Opens Remote Access 5G Core Setup https://ethernitynet.com/press/ethernity-networks-opens-remote-access-5g-core-setup/ Wed, 27 Apr 2022 15:11:14 +0000 https://ethernitynet.com/?post_type=press&p=37735

Airport City, Israel – April 27, 2022Ethernity Networks (AIM: ENET.L), a leading network processing semiconductor technology company, today announced it is offering access to a real 5G core network environment that includes the company’s 5G UPF Hardware Offload solution supported by leading integrator Tietoevry’s UPF toolkit and testbench. The environment enables telecom operators and system integrators to remotely access the setup to experience firsthand the possible performance improvements and CPU savings.

Potential customers can connect directly to the setup, which sends data flows across the environment via Ethernity’s ACE-NIC100 FPGA SmartNIC, configured with PFCP commands originated by SMF. The ACE-NIC100 embeds the ENET Flow Processor semiconductor technology ported on the FPGA to handle the offloaded data plane from the server CPUs, accelerating the network function virtualization infrastructure (NFVI) via a unique containerized architecture that uses standard DPDK RTE_Flow APIs that are untied from the NFV and the driver. The result is dramatic improvement in UPF deterministic performance and a significant reduction in the CPU workload, resulting with lower server cost and power consumption.

By accessing the setup, users can experience how the ACE-NIC100 communicates with other containers of open source VPP with UPF software networking elements. The solution fully offloads the user plane traffic without changing the UPF NFVI application, releasing server CPU cores and reducing power consumption, enhancing scalability, and assuring deterministic performance. The setup also incorporates graphical and statistical representations of the performance in real-time to illustrate the power of offloading 5G UPF from server CPUs.

Oded Bergman, Ethernity’s VP of Product and Business Development said, Ethernity’s unique containerized 5G UPF Offload solution assures carrier-grade UPF performance. It seamlessly integrates our ACE-NIC technology with any DPDK-based UPF NFVI, providing an extremely flexible and competitive UPF offering. The solution reduces software complexity and networking overhead, improves latency, and lowers the overall solution cost. It also paves the way to place UPFs at the network edge closer to end user locations. Now, thanks to this remote setup to our 5G Core environment, we invite 5G mobile operators and integrators to experience how to achieve better UPF performance in the shortest time-to-market.”

The new setup is immediately available for evaluation on a reservation basis. Interested parties can contact Ethernity Networks at info@ethernitynet.com for more information.

Ethernity is currently promoting its offload and acceleration solutions, as well as this evaluation lab, at the first annual SmartNICs Summit in Santa Clara, CA from April 26-28.
